Child Protection Policy

Our aim is to provide a safe environment for the children and young people in our club, where they can enjoy football activities without fear of abuse or harm.  To meet this aim, we will follow the guidance of The Football Association in its Child Protection Policy, Procedures and Practices.

We have a Nominated Contact for Child Protection (Colin Youngson, E-MAIL) who holds a current certificate from the FA’s ‘Child Protection and Best Practice’ workshop.  The Nominated Contact is responsible for liaising with the Gloucestershire FA, raising awareness of child protection, co-ordinating training and ensuring all volunteers have been adequately vetted.

If you have any concerns or issues about child protection, or you wish to report an incident, please contact the Nominated Contact.  All issues or incidents reported will be investigated and dealt with in strict confidence.  The FA in conjunction with the NSPCC provides a 24-hour confidential Child Protection Helpline (0808 800 5000), which will give advice.

We expect all Managers, Coaches, Volunteer Helpers, Players and Parents to abide by our Codes of Conduct.

We expect Managers and Coaches in the Youth Section to hold a current certificate showing that they have attended the FA’s ‘Child Protection and Best Practice’ workshop.  We also expect all managers and coaches to have a current certificate showing that they have attended the FA’s ‘Emergency Aid’ workshop (or an equivalent course).  We encourage managers and coaches to have the FA Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Football and will provide financial support to those wishing to attend the course.

We expect Managers and Coaches to undertake a risk assessment of the playing area, particularly the goal posts, to ensure it is safe.  Accidents and injuries must be reported to the Nominated Contact.

Parents are encouraged to visit the FA website (www.TheFA.Com/Goal) where they can take part in an interactive Soccer Parent Course.  Literature on Child Protect is also available on the website, or from the Nominated Contact.
